The 2021 Ford F-150 is a solid pickup for someone who wants something large but light. The combination of full-size and light-duty gives it a unique mix of agility and power, and those are just two of the key features of this vehicle. Let’s look at a few more.
1. Incredible Engine Options
We weren’t kidding back there when we said this thing has power. There are several engines to choose from, including one for fuel efficiency and a diesel pick, but the engines that most drivers recommend are the base model’s standard engine and the most powerful engine of the group.
The base engine is a fantastic little EcoBoost, a 3.5-liter V6. It has a high-performing 500 lb-ft of torque paired with 400 horsepower for a respectable performance with lots of prowess. However, the 5-liter V8 is the one that power-lovers adore. This one has 400 lb-ft of torque and 400 horsepower, and produces a seriously desirable performance, especially when given a challenge such as a large load to tow.
2. Tows Well and Easily
Speaking of that challenge, the maximum challenge you can give this truck is 14,000 pounds to tow. You can only haul this much when the Ford F-150 has that ultra-powerful V8 engine, but you can still haul close to maximum capacity on the other engines too. Although it’s lighter than your average full-size pickup, the Ford F-150 doesn’t act like it’s lighter. In fact, it beats out some heavier competing models.
It also beats these models in the payload department, where you can have 3,325 pounds in the truckbed alongside that intense load for towing. Who needs a moving truck when you have a powerful pickup, right? Or for a more fun activity, you can pile the truckbed high with beach gear and haul a large boat to the ocean for some fun with the family.
3. Delightful Performance
The Ford F-150 would appear to have two disadvantages. First of all, it’s a full-size pickup, and those aren’t exactly the most athletic vehicles in existence. Secondly, the engine is too powerful to provide a smooth ride … or so you’d think. In reality, the Ford F-150 has neither of these issues you see in other trucks. It has incredible steering dynamics, fast responses, smooth performance, and no body roll. Drivers really praise ride comfort and handling.
4. Superb Safety
You have to love a vehicle that makes your journey a little safer, which the Ford F-150 absolutely does. It’s decked out with the expected stuff like ample front and side airbags, anti-lock brakes, and superior traction. However, there are also some driver assistance features that bring peace of mind and a safer ride. These include parking assistance, lane-keeping technology, and tire pressure monitoring from inside the vehicle.
