The system provides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, a built-in 5G modem, Alexa integration, and additional advanced driver assistance tools like a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control on higher trims.
More Powertrain Possibilities Than Ever
The all-new Maverick now comes in three major versions: Hybrid FWD/AWD, EcoBoost AWD, and two specialty models—Lobo and Tremor—each offering something unique.
- Hybrid FWD/AWD: Still the most affordable and fuel-efficient option, the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle hybrid returns with 191 horsepower and outstanding mileage, up to 42 mpg in the city. For the first time ever, this hybrid system is now available with all-wheel drive, giving buyers in places like the mountains of West Virginia better traction without giving up on efficiency. Towing capacity jumps to 4,000 lbs when properly equipped.
- EcoBoost AWD: The 2.0L turbocharged EcoBoost engine remains a fan favorite for drivers wanting more spirited acceleration. Paired with an 8-speed automatic and available AWD, it puts down 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, the highest in any Maverick for road trips and towing.
- Maverick Lobo: New for 2025, the Lobo (Spanish for "wolf") is a street-tuned performance model. It builds on the EcoBoost engine but adds a lower ride height, paddle shifters, black aerodynamic 19” wheels, and aggressive styling inside and out. It’s aimed at buyers who want sporty handling in a practical package, and starts around $35,000.
- Maverick Tremor: Ford also expanded the Tremor into a full trim level this year, no longer just a package. It’s all about off-road ability, with Trail Control, a locking rear differential, increased ground clearance, upgraded shocks, and an off-road-tuned AWD system. The Tremor starts just above $40,000, offering rugged looks and serious trail cred without going full Bronco.
Features That Feel Premium Without the Price Tag
Even base models of the Maverick now include keyless entry, LED lighting, and rear under-seat storage. Higher trims include a heated steering wheel, premium features, and an upgraded B&O sound system. Pro trailer back up assist, blind spot monitoring, and hitch guidance make towing more accessible, even for first-time truck buyers. All Mavericks come with standard driver aids like lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and pre-collision braking.
The Recall? Already Handled
In case you heard about the June 2025 recall, here's the scoop: Ford recalled roughly 64,000 Maverick units due to an issue with the backup camera image not displaying properly and a faulty airbag indicator light. The problem came down to loose retaining clips in the instrument cluster that affected how warning indicators and rear camera feeds were displayed on the screen.
Ford began installing redesigned clips back in late April, and new production units, including those arriving now at Mid-State Ford, have already been fixed at the factory.
